Sustainable transformation: The inevitable trend in Logistics

With the growing awareness of climate change and the demand for sustainable solutions, green logistics is becoming an inevitable trend. The shift towards environmentally friendly transportation, warehousing, and distribution methods not only helps to minimize negative impacts on the environment but also brings long-term economic benefits.

Green investment drives transformation

Domestic and foreign enterprises are increasingly interested in green investment, providing a strong impetus for the development of green logistics. The Vietnamese government has also issued many supportive policies, such as Decision 882/QD-TTg, to promote the greening process of economic sectors, which identifies 6 groups of tasks, activities, and 18 specific tasks and activities in the field of transportation and logistics services.

Technology and innovation

On August 3rd, the workshop “Innovation roadmap towards smart and sustainable supply chains” took place with the participation of leading experts in the field of technology and logistics.

Here, people discussed specific solutions for sustainable logistics, including the use of renewable energy, the application of green production models in transportation and supply chains.

“Green logistics applies the latest technologies such as robots, IoT (Internet of Things), and smart warehouses to analyze data, optimize routes, use renewable energy, and manage waste effectively. When all links in the supply chain are green, businesses will be able to improve production and operation capabilities, thereby forming a green and sustainable ecosystem,” said Ms. Nguyen Hong Nhung, Director of Vinexad.

Green transportation – A crucial link

Besides data technology, smart warehouses, or robots, green transportation plays a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment, as evidenced by the replacement of internal combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles or those using sustainable fuels such as wind, solar, and biomass, helping to create a sustainable energy source for transportation and warehousing activities.

VILOG 2024: A platform for connection and innovation

At VILOG 2024, WR1 brought a booth with a strong message about green transformation and sustainable development. The aim is to inspire awareness of the importance of green transformation through “green transportation” activities, while helping customers and partner businesses better understand the roadmap to realizing the ESG model – the foundation for sustainable development.

Although there are not many groundbreaking initiatives, green transformation activities (low carbon) applied from fleet management such as choosing new vehicles with low fuel consumption, regular vehicle maintenance, creating opportunities for drivers to participate in training courses on eco-driving to save fuel, to internal office activities such as planting trees, donating to tree funds, and waste classification.

WR1 believes that every activity is a “small footprint” to work together towards a sustainable “green path” in the future. With the efforts of businesses, the government, and the community, green logistics will continue to develop strongly, contributing to building a sustainable future for Vietnam.
