The Talking Stick is not just a symbol, but also a bridge between generations, connecting us to the tradition and future of the logistics industry. WR1 is deeply honored to witness the FIATA Talking Stick and welcome Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of VLA, to interact and share about the journey of bringing FWC 2025 to Vietnam, while also learning about the meaning of this Talking Stick.

Origin and History

The stick originates from the long-standing tradition of the Haida tribe, one of the indigenous groups of Canada. When gathering, the Haida people used a special stick, called the “Talking Stick,” to conduct discussions. The person holding the stick had the right to speak, and no one else had the right to stick at this time. After the speaker finished, the stick was passed to the next speaker. All of these sticks are original works of art, hand-carved and never identical.

In 2008, at FWC Vancouver, the Haida tribe presented FIATA with a Talking Stick as a symbol of friendship and cooperation. However, this stick was later lost before FWC 2013 took place. After CIFFA learned of this, they donated a replica of the stick to replace it. At FWC 2023, a new stick was presented to FIATA, to continue the mission of connecting and promoting the development of the global logistics industry.

The FWC 2025 Talking Stick

With the desire to bring the FIATA World Congress to Vietnam since 2017. Through many efforts and interruptions due to Covid-19, in 2022, VLA officially won the right to host FWC 2025 at FWC 2022 held in Korea, and WR1 is very honored to accompany VLA on this journey.

At FWC 2024 held in Panama, VLA officially received the Talking Stick to organize FWC 2025 in Hanoi, marking a memorable milestone in the development history of Vietnam’s logistics industry.

February 7th became a historic milestone when the FIATA Talking Stick appeared at WR1 in a prestigious viewing for sponsors. We had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of VLA, share about the journey of effort and dedication to bring FWC 2025 to Vietnam.
